It Took 10 Years But I’ve Finally Surpassed 300,000 Words Here

Not including this post, 300,290 words to be exact within 214 posts. I’m sure many of the words adding up to that total include lots of “filler words” such as; “of”, “the”, as well as “and” and more than a few usages of “douche” (and rightfully so) so I am not getting too full of my writing skills or prowess. As the average word count for a novel typically falls between 70,000 and 100,000 words though my total here is not too shabby.

When I started this website around 10 years ago it was a passion project. After a couple of years it became a vanity project and has since morphed into merely a project. I could write much more regularly but too much of what would normally prompt me to write a post is anger at how people before me have treated a beautiful spot. If I wrote about that subject as often as I could this would have quickly devolved into a very negative and repetitive site. So, for the restraint I have shown on that matter, you are welcome.

I also used to regularly get in the mood to write after “getting into the flow” with the prodigious use of alcohol. So much so that I was overweight and now consider myself an alcoholic…but a functioning one. So now, after a couple years of tracking and reducing my alcohol intake I am still technically an alcoholic but a bit healthier. But also less prone to write in a free flow state which is the reason for my less than regular posts of late. The death of Willow also put a damper on my need or desire to write. Now that I have Gia and we have worked through and made improvements to many of her “issues” I am starting to feel more like adding to my word count on here.

Those are all excuses (but honest ones) and the sum of those parts really did effect my writing output. I do have maybe a dozen or so posts essentially finished as drafts but still I need to reread and edit them one at a time before hitting the “Publish” button. So I expect there will soon be a bit of a deluge of content posted here in the near future, hopefully some of which is useful and/or to your liking.

Thank you for reading and for your patience.
